Tai Po is a great escape from the claustrophobic areas in other parts of Hong Kong, and the next time you’re looking for a weekend getaway, it’s not too bad to reconsider flying to Hong Kong and visit Tai Po for some sightseeing, instead of going to the usuals in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. If cycling is your thing, you can cycle from Tai Po (Tai Po Market Station) to Tai Mei Tuk, or just rent a bike around Tai Mei Tuk. There’s also the Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree in Tai Po, which I’ll write about some other day.

Getting There
The nearest MTR station is Tai Wo (太和), but it’s a shorter walk if you take the bus (71K, 72 or 74A). Cross the road and follow the signs along Lam Tsuen River.
