Ling and I found ourselves on a short road trip to Pocheon, which is about an hour and a half drive away from Seoul. While the accommodation wasn’t the cleanest, it definitely has a beautiful and well-maintained backyard.
After spending some time at the backyard, we headed over to a restaurant for Idong Galbi which Pocheon is apparently famous for, before ending the night at Pocheon Herb Island. I can’t decide if I like Pocheon Herb Island better during the day or at night. While there’s a lot more to see and take photos of during the day—especially in summer when lavender is in full bloom—there is something dreamy about the psychedelic fairy lights at night.
We started the following day at Pocheon Art Valley, featured in two popular dramas, namely The Legend of the Blue Sea and A Korean Odyssey (also known as Hwayugi). Unfortunately, we weren’t very impressed by this place, although it does turn out nice in photographs. Pocheon Art Valley is a place which you could essentially be done with in fifteen minutes, so unless you are in the area for an overnight trip, it wouldn’t make sense to travel so far just to see the valley.
