It has been many years since I’ve last been to mainland China, and just like how Singaporeans cross the border for a day trip to Johor Bahru, I went across the border from Hong Kong to Shenzhen. I didn’t know what to expect of Shenzhen because all I remember from my first and also the last trip was a very old shopping mall, where there were also a lot of foot massage shops (which is still very common today).
As usual, Ching doesn’t travel without taking some photos, so we headed over to 深圳仙湖植物园 (Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden), which is a 打卡地点 (a.k.a Instagram hotspot). The entrance of the garden’s about a 30-minute or less taxi ride (about 25 RMB) away from 金光华 (King Glory Shopping Plaza). After which, if you don’t want to walk all the way in to the lake and cactus greenhouse, you can opt for a short shuttle bus ride (3 RMB one-way) at the entrance of the botanical garden. The entrance fee is 15 RMB which is really cheap, considering the fact that Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden is approximately 588 football fields big. If you want to visit every single scenic spot and the temple, you might want to start your day early.
The weather was too hot and the cactus greenhouse was almost like a jjimjilbang so I couldn’t take as many photos as I wished. Strongly suggest to come only in cooler seasons.
