I wasn’t sure what to expect and look forward to on my second trip to Busan. The last time I was here in Busan, it was a 1D1N trip after my short trip to Gwangju to visit a professor. I can’t say that I liked Busan a lot, because I didn’t see much of it except Jagalchi Market and the Haeundae Sand Festival that was a little disappointing.
This time round, I took the KTX and went to Busan on a day trip. I actually liked the places that I visited this time and Oryukdo Skywalk was definitely the highlight of this trip. It was a nice spring day; the skies were clear and the wind was cooling.
But the one thing I didn’t like about this trip—and on my previous trip as well—was the pork soup rice (돼지국밥), which Busan is famous for. Somehow the pork soup rice in Busan tastes a little different (than in Seoul), and I can’t seem to adapt to the taste of pork in Busan. I don’t have a factual or scientific explanation for it, but a few of my friends who eat pork regularly also found that the pork in Busan somehow tastes different, so it’s not just me.
The Korea Tourism Organisation seems to be putting a lot of effort in recent years to promote Busan as a must-go travel destination in South Korea, and it does seem like there’s a lot more attractions popping up in the city. If you’ve been to Seoul and wondering where to go next, I think Busan isn’t a bad option. I definitely see myself going to Busan again, except maybe I’ll skip the pork soup rice ;)
