My favorite thing about the Korean language is how indirect it can be. Even when asking someone about their identity, Koreans tend to be subtle in their approach.
For example, instead of asking for someone’s pronouns directly, Koreans might ask if the person is “on this side” instead.
So, the next time someone asks, “Hoxy… 이쪽이세요?” take the context into consideration, as they might be asking for your pronouns instead of asking for directions.
